Programs at Portage Learning Centers
Portage Learning Centers offers Head Start and Early Head Start programs. We believe children learn by doing, so classrooms and home visits are filled with developmentally appropriate educational experiences. Children explore and learn through hands-on activities and play that are meaningful and of interest to them.
Head Start and Early Head Start foster the role of parents as primary educators, nurturers, and advocates for their children. We work in close partnership with parents and caregivers to assist in developing and utilizing individual and family strengths to achieve meaningful goals. Families are encouraged to become involved in all aspects of the program, from participation in home visits and classroom activities to direct involvement in program and policy decisions.
Meals/Snacks are provided for all participants and meet all USDA requirements.
Open communication between families and staff is encouraged. Families are asked to update the phone number and address changes and notify staff when their child will not be in class or when a home visit needs to be canceled.
