Head Start Health

Head Start provides services that will help recognize potential health concerns or special needs. These services include:
• Routine developmental, vision, hearing, and speech screenings
• Daily tooth brushing and basic hygiene
• Children with special needs are welcome at Head Start. Appropriate services can be provided through coordination with the community and local school systems.

Early Head Start Health

Early Head Start provides services that will help recognize potential health concerns or special needs. These services include:
• Comprehensive prenatal, postpartum, breastfeeding and nutrition education
• Vision, hearing, speech and growth assessments for children
• Assist families in developing a source of on-going healthcare
• A nurse will provide prenatal visits, 2 times a month, nutrition assessments and health training in maternal and pediatric health issues.
• Postnatal visits include post partum depression screening.
• Early Head Start welcomes children with special needs. Appropriate services can be provided through coordination with the community and the local Help Me Grow program.
